    Arkansas Black is a heritage apple variety that has been known since 1870. It is very disease resistant, and ripens very late, in November and December. This makes it an excellent food for deer and game. Its medium sized fruit has yellow skin that turns deep red to black, and keeps well in storage or on the tree. Chill hours 800. Ripens November.

    Soil type: Well-drained pH 6.0-6.5
    Fertilization: The first application should be made during the dormant period in January and another application at the beginning of the rainy season in June. Use a balanced fertilizer such as 10-10-10 or similar mixture is recommended.
    Pruning: Corrective pruning may be necessary as the tree matures. See Pruning section under "How to plant and grow"
    Watering: For best fruit productions, provide moist but well drained soil.
